TATE + YOKO / naked & famous HQ Tour

Earlier this month we hand delivered our first in situ stockist order to Tate + Yoko in Montreal!

“Tate” and “Yoko” are Japanese for “Warp” and “Weft” - the two directions in which yarn is stretched and drawn across a loom when weaving fabric. Tate + Yoko specializes in Japanese denim with a focus on quality, attention to detail, and vintage production methods.

Tate + Yoko curates products from brands at the top of their respective fields, with an emphasis on goods produced in Japan, Canada, and the USA. Tate + Yoko has pursued its niche to worldwide recognition and has been named one of the best denim shops on the planet.

Tate + Yoko is located on the ground floor of the Naked & Famous Denim HQ in Montreal’s historic garment district. The store is raw and industrial, filled to the brim with Japanese antiques and collectibles, with the most knowledgeable, interested staff you could possibly find. Naked & Famous uses the rest of the building for manufacturing, warehousing, administration and Habushu (ハブ酒) (Snake Wine - “the alcohol kills the venom!”) tastings.

We were fortunate enough to have the red carpet rolled out for us by the mad scientist (Brandon Svarc) himself - see our previous interview - and received the show and tell of a lifetime! Needless to say, the tour did not disappoint!

Enjoy our photo-series and be sure to check out in situ at Tate + Yoko next time you’re in Montreal!
