The Kawataro Selvedge is a fresh greencast interpretation of our legendary Japan Heritage denim. It draws inspiration from Kawataro, the mischievous Japanese river God, also known as Kappa. Kappa is notoriously famous for his love of cucumbers, sumo wrestling, and playful trickery.
Crafted from 14.5oz Japanese Selvedge denim, the Kawataro Selvedge features a distinctly slubby, uneven texture created through low-tension weaving and the use of irregularly-shaped slub yarns. The yarns are rope-dyed in indigo, and due to their unique shape, the dye penetrates unevenly thus resulting in varied absorption across the fabric. As the denim fades with wear, it reveals a striking spectrum of indigo shades, producing high-contrast, three-dimensional fades.
Additional details include contrast stitching, a custom Raging Kong leather patch, pink selvedge ID, and antique copper buttons and rivets.
